This is quite possibly my favorite commercial. I love it for two reasons: the dude is seriously nice to look at and it's randomly funny. Anyway, after examining this video, I realize that the the appeal is for men and how to "please" their women. Also, it appeals to women who want their men to be the actor in the commercial.
The fact of the matter is, men are typically not going to be a woman's fantasy man and do all the right things 100% of the time, but with Old Spice they can pretend to be. These series of commercials give examples of various things men should do that women would love, including the looks. But, just like the theme of the commercial, it's more of a fantasy than reality.

This ad “True Roots” is really appealing to the emotions of the audience because of its choice of music and words. It represents true Indian life and culture in daily life. At some points it even reveals some stereotypes. I was touched by the words and laughed at some parts of the ad, especially when it showed how Indians store plastic materials and never opens plastic covers when they buy new things. It also emphasizes the life styles of Indians in different parts of India and showcases their food and games. They are crazy about cricket and they love spicy food!. I felt the ad was somewhat bias. It only focused for Asian Indian in different part of the world. in some of its images, especially those that involved nonverbal communication through movements, gestures, and nodding. I think that it shows Indians making stereotypical gestures and not every Indian gestures this way when they speak or are in conversation.

Multiculturalism and Hate Crimes
This article reminded me of what the 5th chapter on culture said about multiculturalism. "Viewed as contentious by some, multiculturalism is criticized by those who see it as an attempt at seperating people rather than bringing them together (pg.56).

Tea partiers and cultural attitudes.
Tea Partier's media presentation's reinforce their preoccupation reflecting conspiracy theories. What kind of people are depicted in the culture? Effective in reaching a larger following?

This is an article from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, an organization concerned with digital rights. The article describes how to protect your privacy while using Facebook and its new feature "Places". Think about data mining and how these kinds of applications are affecting our personal space.
